Working towards a futureproof sustainable chain

Sustainability is a top priority in our chain. By collaborating to make the production chain more sustainable, significant reductions in CO2 emissions can be achieved, while also meeting the growing consumer demand for products with a lower CO2 footprint. Aviko Rixona is committed to leading the way in this sustainability transition.

At Aviko Rixona, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. Together with our employees, growers, suppliers, customers, and other partners, we are making the entire chain more sustainable. We strive for powerful partnerships with our customers to implement reduction measures. By collaborating, we can not only achieve our own sustainability goals but also actively contribute to the sustainability goals of our customers.

Our goal

Our goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by 65% by 2030 and to achieve Net-Zero by 2050. The approach towards a futureproof sustainable chain focuses on four key areas:

Sustainable production

Growing crops futureproof

Our potato growers protect and improve soil, biodiversity, water quality, and the climate. For example, we have our futureproof farming program where our growers focus on applying measures which result in more efficient fertilizer usage, and crop protection products by opting for natural and smarter alternatives. As part of the agricultural cooperative Cosun, we help our farmers transition to sustainable agriculture.

Reducing climate impact

In our production processes, we contribute to our sustainability goals in various ways. We replace fossil energy sources with sustainable alternatives, such as bio-energy from our methane reactor and green electricity via the e-boiler. We utilize 100% of the potatoes and reduce our water consumption by recycling water in our process.

Realising plant-based solutions

Aviko Rixona harnesses the full potential of potatoes. In addition to potato flakes and granules, we develop innovative plant-based ingredients that align with the latest trends and meet the changing needs of our B2B partners, end-users, and consumers. In 2022, we launched Potato Cheezz, the first cheese substitute made from potatoes.

Working together

In making the chain more sustainable, we closely collaborate with all our chain partners to jointly achieve our sustainability goals. Together with our employees, growers, suppliers, customers, and other partners, we are building a futureproof, sustainable chain.
